Sporting Chance Initiative - The Sports Innovation Challenge: 2017 Round (Scotland)
The Sports Innovation Challenge is an opportunity for young entrepreneurs to develop an innovative idea for a sports product, service and/or technology.
The competition seeks to foster the innovative talent pool that exists within educational establishments to generate and develop new ideas that can enhance the world of sport.
The financial prize fund of £20,000 will be split equally between the respective winners, of which there are no more than five.
Winners will receive a gold medal. In addition, each winner will receive:
- £4,000 cash towards the business;
- a one year business incubation package within The Sport Hive;
- £2,000 worth of complimentary services from Partners across Scotland; and
- mentoring support from sports industry experts.
The Challenge aims to engage the next generation of entrepreneurs in sports innovation. It will help to develop new Intellectual Property in sports and sports technology and support the development of new sports businesses which entrants to the competition intend to establish and commercialise within Scotland.
The scheme is open to young entrepreneurs in Scotland, including students and recent graduates who are aged 18 and over attending, or having previously attended, a university, college or research institute. The applicant must be living in Scotland and if they have already graduated, this must have been in the past two years.
The deadline for receipt of applications is 5pm on 20 April 2017.
