O2 Announces Grants for Young Digital Entrepreneurs Addressing Environmental Improvement
The Environment Now initiative has been set up to support young people with developing their own digital ideas to help the environment, in areas such as recycling, reducing waste and improving energy efficiency.
Grants are available with no minimum, up to a maximum of £10,000. The programme will provide a total of 50 individual grants over its lifetime. Successful applicants will be supported by the programme providers, together with sustainability partners and they will also be allocated a professional mentor to work with them.
The programme offers support, work experience and insight sessions with industry professionals to help bring young people's ideas to life. Participants will also benefit from training on confidence, networking, presenting, project management and budgeting to ensure their project is sustainable.
The money can be used to help individuals in supporting their innovative ideas around digital technology, where the idea is intended to find innovative solutions to environmental issues.
The scheme is open to applications from entrepreneurial UK-based young people (aged between the ages of 17 and 24) who are passionate about the environment and who want to use digital technology to make a positive difference.
Young people may apply as part of a small team, with a designated project leader. The applicant can be part of a group at a college, university, youth group or a small seed start-up business.
The final deadline for receipt of applications is 14 July 2017.
