IUK Announces Commercialisation of Quantum Technologies 3 Funding Competition
IUK and the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) are to invest up to £13 million in quantum technologies. This competition has been designed to continue the support for innovation.
The competition will support consortia to develop demonstrators of quantum technologies and also help them meet the expectations of users and customers.
Collaborative R&D Projects
Support is available for 'challenge-led' collaborative R&D projects in quantum technologies that produce prototype devices and demonstrators. These must meet a clear commercial application or market need.
Feasibility studies will be funded that will improve understanding of the technical or market feasibility of a product or service. The scope of this competition allows for both technical and non-technical projects. This includes projects that focus on understanding the business or market opportunity and challenges.
To lead a project the applicant must:
- Be a UK-based business (of any size) or research technology organisation (RTO).
- Carry out the project in the UK
- Work in collaboration with others.
The total budget for both collaborative R&D projects and feasibility studies is up to £13 million. For Collaborative R&D Projects the budget is up to £9 million. Projects are expected to last between 12 and 18 months with total project costs of £500,000 to £2 million. The budget is up to £4 million for Feasibility Studies. Feasibility projects are expected to last six to 12 months with total project costs of £50,000 to £500,000.
The registration deadline is 12 noon, 29 March 2017 and the application deadline is 12 noon, 5 April 2017.
